Dr Tony Welsh BDS (DUND)

Dr. Tony Welsh is from Enniskillen in Co.Fermanagh and graduated from Dundee University in 1995. He completed his vocational training in Edinburgh and has worked in Ireland and the UK in both general and cosmetic dentistry over the last 23 years. He is a member of the Irish Dental Association.

Tony has a keen interest in continued professional development and is a highly progressive dental practitioner who enjoys keeping up to date with advancements in treatments and digital technology. He has attended numerous international courses in the UK and Ireland working on advancing his skills in aesthetic, cosmetic and implant dentistry. Tony utilises the latest technologies including digital smile design and his artistic eye to produce fantastic results and help patients to achieve their ideal smile. Tony provides Invisalign and uses a high tech iTero scanner.

Tony has a very understanding and caring approach to nervous patients. His focus is on patient education to promote optimal dental health and helping everyone to love their smile.

In his spare time he enjoys cycling, kitesurfing and paddleboarding and can often be found at the beach with his young family.

Dr Des Byrne BA Dentsc TCD

Des is from Mullingar, Co. Westmeath, and qualified from Trinity College, Dublin in 2005 with a BABDENTSC degree. He was one of three selected to represent Trinity College on an international level in the European Dental Students Association.

He has provided top quality dental care in private practice ever since. In 2012, he set up Abbey Dental Care in partnership with Dr Tony Welsh.

Des is a member of the Irish Dental Association and is always keen to keep up with the constantly changing practice of dentistry. He refines his skills by attending the most up-to-date courses in aesthetic and restorative dentistry. Des prides himself on his results when working with crowns, veneers, bridges, white fillings and tooth whitening. Des provides Invisalign, six month smiles and Quick Straight Teeth invisible fixed brace system. Des has grown a great reputation for his pain-free dental technique, and strives to provide same-day pain relief to emergency patients. Des welcomes the nervous patient to the practice, and devotes time and patience to make the experience as painless and as comfortable as possible.

Dr Ciara Dempsey

Ciara is from Trim, Co. Meath but has just recently returned from London and is delighted to be joining the team at Abbey Dental.

Having graduated with first class honours from the University of Portsmouth and the winner of the Dame Margaret Seward award in Dental Hygiene and Therapy, Ciara moved to London where she worked in Chelsea and on Harley Street for 10 years.

Ciara believes that prevention is paramount in achieving good oral health. She enjoys educating her patients on the benefits of good oral hygiene habits in a way that suits each individual and works around their busy lifestyle.

She attends courses regularly and continuously strives to keep her knowledge and skills up to date. She has a particular interest in treating advanced periodontal cases as well as nervous patients and prides herself on using the latest techniques available. She is always looking for new advances and products which will help her patients keep their teeth and gums healthy, their smile bright and enjoy their experience with the hygienist.

Ciara also has a keen interest in facial aesthetics and skin rejuvenation.
Outside of work Ciara loves to keep fit by going to the gym and hiking. She also loves to socialise with friends and read a good book.
